Supermoms Blog Contest Edition- Fall 2008 Trends!
Happy Fall Supermoms!
The person that will win the contest in this blog is the first one that posts a comment in my shoutbox with the favorite thing they like to do to change up their look in the fall.
This special edition contest blog will include some fall 2008 trends in both hair and makeup. From the research I've done, here is what I'm seeing the most of in regards to forecasts for fall trends!
Makeup:
I'm seeing lots of warmth this season--golds, browns, reds.

Dark Smoky Eyes will be huge! So get out your black eyeliner and smoldering shadows. You can see older tutorial blogs that I've done outlining the smoky eyed look.

Red Lips are back! A light glossy red gives the neutral face a bit of pop and color--and adds life back into a tired look.

Metallic Nails will be huge this fall--golds mainly.

Autumn Colors are your lids are a fun way to usher in the holidays of the season including Halloween and Thanksgiving!

Hair:
Auburn is the hot color for fall, so if you're feeling drab, hit up your colorist for a beautiful auburn shade!

Layering up those traditional bobs and adding bangs will give your growing out style a burst of energy! This will be seen all over runways this fall.

Sleek ponytails are everywhere! Make sure you leave out a long piece in the back, next to the tail, wrap it around the rubber band and bobby pin. And the easiest way to glam up a ponytail is to put a sleek side part in the mix!

Messy French twists. Make it look like you threw it up in 5 minutes--in fact, do throw it up in 5 minutes! Rat up that hair, twist, and pin into place.

Where my Retro girls at? I love me some Gwen Stefani and she knows how to bring home a retro look! Set with hot rollers, comb out with fingers, and pin into place.

Braids are back! Two pigtail braids, ponytail braids and braiding in your bohemian updo are all examples of how to wear the look this season.

I hope you enjoyed this blog full of fun Fall tips and trends!

(Mostly) Inexpensive Makeup Looks!
Welcome to the blog that many of you have been waiting for! This time I will show you some looks with some very inexpensive makeup I picked up from Walgreens today. This will be a picture blog, as the video I did was very unorganized and actually too long to put on you tube. It will be easier this way though, cause I can list the products in print for you.
First I want to address something and apologize. I need to tell you how sorry I am that I don't include more hair looks/styles in my blogs. I have had a very disheartening few months with my hair. The problem being, that I'm losing lots of it. I'm not sure why, but of course it's concerning to me. And not just concerning, but my hair is just not the working for me well when I do it, because I'm now working with less than 1/2 of the hair I had before my pregnancy. It's gotten so thin. I have a pretty visible (at least to me) thinning spot on the top/front hairline:

My part seems to get wider weekly.
I told my sister about it, and she reminded me that she went to the Dr. last year for the very same thing. The Dr. told her that it's very common the first few years after pregnancy to have such symptoms due to the body regaining it's posture again, hormonally, after carrying a pregnancy. So for now I will chalk it up to that, and have a Dr. visit of my own it this continues or worsens. But thank you for not being upset that I mainly focus on makeup. I'm afraid I wouldn't be the best model of good looking hair at the moment. :(
Anyway, on to brighter things! I had an enlightening experience at the drug store as I picked up some very inexpensive and nice looking products. I really loved the product line, Rimmel London, as I have said in that past. They have really nice looking products and great colour choices! In these pictures, the only makeup I had on that was MAC, and on the splurg-y side, was my foundation. Which, I think, if you are going to splurge on one thing, my opinion would be for this to be it. It's the easel on which all your makeup sits. :) The one downside of course, to going somewhere like a drugstore or Target to buy your makeup, is that you can't try it on. That is what I like most about department stores and places like MAC. For me, if I can't see it on my face, I don't trust that it's right for me, but I sucked it up and, well, cheated a little bit...yeah, I broke open these products and swatched them on my hand. To be fair, most weren't packed shut and I just simply lifted the top off and broke no packaging. I suggest doing so as well. It at least helps a little, if you can't see it on your face, to look at the color on your skin, as it can look completely different from what it appears to be in it's packaging. Now, I'm not sure if I just gave you an illegal tip or not--so don't tell on me if you get caught!! haha!
On my eyes, I have used, as an inexpensive "2 in 1 alternative" to expensive eyeshadow base, a nude frosty lipstick instead! The lipstick is from Rimmel London, #272 called "Frosted". I applied it straight on my lids in preparation for the shadow. As you know I'm a big believer in base on the eyes, pre-shadow, as it helps the shadow show it's truest intended color, prevents creasing, and boosts it's staying power. It was a last minute idea and it worked really well! So how cool is it that with this $5 purchase, you now have an eyeshadow base AND a nude lipstick? The shadow I picked up for $7, is LOREAL HIP Shadow in "Cheeky" on the lids. It's highly pigmented and I loved the color choices they had. I used my $7 Prestige Liquid Eyeliner and my $7 Cover Girl Lash Blast. On my cheeks, I have $6 Mineral Powder Blush from Maybelline.
I bought 3 different lipsticks, and 2 different lip liners. I will show you the pictures based on the lip colors, as everything else in them is the same.
First, I picked a lipliner from London Rimmel, called Exaggerate. It's a really nice creamy liner, and the color is #063 "Eastend Snob". It was on sale for $2!! The lipcolor is London Rimmel, #070 called "Airy Fairy". This is a nice nudey yet pinky look.

Secondly, another $2 liner from Rimmel, same product, different color, #078 "Addiction", and the same lipstick I used as my eye shadow base, #272, "Frosted". A frosty nude colored lip:
Third lipstick, I used the same lipliner from the first pic, and a $7 lipstick from Cover Girl #932 "Mauve Souffle" :

I hope you enjoyed this blog, as I really enjoyed the experience.

Faux Hawk Looks
There are two videos to this blog. The first tut I made had a really poufy faux hawk bangs, top and crown. I want to point out that in case anyone thinks the pony tail/ends above it hanging out looked sloppy, I was trying to save time. :) IRL, I would have redone that ponytail and tucked the ends of the hair from the teased top into it. I was really trying to aim for showing how the teased top is done:

Then I realized that Ashley was really asking how to do faux hawk bangs. So I made a short follow up. The annoying squeaking is my chair! LOL Here it is:

Hope you enjoy them!
